The public healthcare sector is growing vibrantly and has many career opportunities. To care for the health of Singaporeans, we are expanding our capacity and capabilities in many areas. Are you ready to be part of this exciting journey?

MOH Holdings (MOHH) has introduced the Healthcare Graduate Studies Award in 2009 to attract a stream of dedicated and talented young individuals into the healthcare sector. Suitable individuals will be offered sponsorship to pursue post graduate studies in their chosen area.

Area of Study

The Healthcare Graduate Studies Award offers individuals an opportunity to train for a career in healthcare. The areas of graduate study which we are prepared to sponsor include:

Biostatistics

As a biostatistician, you will address issues relating to the burden and trend of disease in communities; the causes of diseases and injuries; and the usefulness of new therapies.

Clinical Psychology

As a clinical psychologist, you will understand and relieve mental, emotional and behavioural disorders. You will also design and implement preventive mental health programmes and promote the well-being and development of individuals.

Economics

As a health economist, you will use mathematical models to synthesise data from operations to support decision making, wider health policies, review and implementation.

Epidemiology

As an epidemiologist, you will study patterns of disease and look into ways to prevent and control public health problems.

Medical Social Work

As a medical social worker, you will provide support to patients with chronic, acute or terminal illnesses and improve their mental and physical well-being. You will also advise family caregivers, counsel patients and help them plan their post-hospitalisation needs.

Medical Informatics

As a medical informatics professional, you will devise ways to streamline communication between staff and patients and also improve communication between hospitals and research centers.

Microbiology

As a microbiologist, you will identify and analyse pathogens that could cause the next community outbreak.

Nursing

As a nurse, you will work with other medical workers to provide care to the patients and plan strategies as well as activities to improve the level of healthcare to the sick.

Study in other areas of healthcare may also be considered.

Place of Study

Award holders should pursue their graduate programmes at reputable universities. Other than the National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University, awardees may be sponsored to study at other reputable universities in Australia, UK, USA and Canada.

Graduates without confirmed places for graduate study, will be offered conditional awards, if found suitable.

Bond Duration

Upon graduation, award holders will be bonded for periods that vary with their period and country of study.

Career Opportunities

Award holders will have the opportunity to work in the Ministry of Health, MOH Holdings, restructured hospitals, national specialty centres and research institutions.

Attachment Opportunities

Award holders have the opportunity to go on attachments within the public healthcare sector prior to the start of their studies and during their vacations. This will give them a chance to gain first-hand exposure in healthcare.
