The Healthcare Humanity Awards (HHA) is a continuing legacy of the Courage Award by the Courage Fund. Set up in 2003, the Courage Award recognised healthcare workers who displayed extraordinary courage and selfless dedication in their fight against Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) in Singapore.

In 2004, The Courage Fund established the HHA to pay tribute to outstanding healthcare professionals who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to offer care and comfort to those in need. In 2016, the HHA was expanded to include care providers beyond healthcare, in line with the “beyond hospital to community” transformation direction.

As of 2023, MOHH took on the responsibility of organising the HHA. This year, President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Minister for Health Mr Ong Ye Kung presented 95 exceptional individuals and teams with the prestigious Healthcare Humanity Awards in recognition of their unwavering commitment, selflessness, and for how they consistently prioritised the well-being of others above their own, even during challenging circumstances like the COVID-19 pandemic.

70 winners from the Individual Category along with 25 teams from the newly added Team Category were honoured at the ceremony. The inclusion of this new category marks a significant leap forward in acknowledging the critical importance of synergy, cross-functional collaboration, and teamwork within the healthcare sector. It lauds teams that have gone above and beyond their usual roles and responsibilities, showcasing their commitment and resilience in the face of adversity.
