National Health IT Summit was a success

National Health IT Summit 2015

At the 7th National Health IT Summit on Jan 7, Minister for Health Gan Kim Yong launched the inaugural MOH Health IT Excellence Award 2014. The annual conference, held at Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre, saw over 370 public healthcare policy makers, leaders and professionals discussing IT challenges and strategies, as well as sharing perspectives on how health IT will evolve to support the future needs of our healthcare industry.

The theme of this year’s summit was Transforming Healthcare, Transcending Boundaries. In “Transforming Healthcare”, the Summit shed light on the efforts in driving priority areas to transform patient experience. The Summit also discussed ideas that are intended to pave the way for “Transcending Boundaries” in providing seamless healthcare to our patients in an effective manner.

In his speech, Minister Gan recognised the ongoing IT efforts by our public healthcare institutions. He said: “The awards aim to encourage our institutions to continually work towards the outcomes of our Health IT Master Plan, which is designed to support the Healthcare 2020 Master Plan. In addition, we aim to promote a strong culture of sharing, re-using and adopting innovations among clusters, as well as helping providers in the ILTC and primary care segments adopt IT. Many deserving projects and individuals were nominated and the panel of judges did not have an easy time picking the winners.”

Minister Gan hoped that the 11 award recipients would serve as role models and inspiration for the wider healthcare community. There were 62 nominations submitted, comprising 47 projects and 15 individuals.
